House Concert December 2010

Dear WMC Members,

It's almost time for our fall House Concert, which will take place on Saturday, Dec. 4, at 5:00 pm. Elaine Brady will be hosting the event, and we have slots available for performers. These gatherings are informal and quite relaxed, so there is not as much pressure as during our public performances. We would love to have a big crowd of players and listeners.

Please let me know if you will be attending, either as a player or an audience member. My e-mail address is KatieKT@verizon.net. RSVP date is November 16, and we shall be reminding you again.

I am looking forward to playing on Dec. 4 and to hearing others' performances as well.

Best,

Katie Largent

Gold Cup & Student Recital May 2, 2010

Dear Woodbridge Music Club Members,

It's just around the corner! The Woodbridge Music Club Gold Cup Recital and Student Recital. Both recitals will be held on Sunday May 2, 2010 at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Woodbridge, VA and mark the beginning of National Music Week. The Gold Cup Recital is scheduled for 2:00 and is open to any students who have earned a gold cup this year. There is no application fee for this recital. A Student Recital is scheduled at 3:00 and is open to all members' students on their chosen instrument. The application fee for this recital is like all the other student recitals - $7.50 per performer ($10 per family). This is the first year we are offering a student recital other than the Gold Cup Recital in the spring. This provides a springtime opportunity for all students to perform. I am hoping that teachers will take advantage of this opportunity so that we can continue to offer it in the future. All instruments/voice are welcome.

Send the following information to Grace Reid ...

House Concert

Dear WMC Members,

The next House Concert is March 13, 2010, at 5 p.m. at Elaine Brady’s home (not pictured above). If you would like to perform or attend, please contact Donna Baldwin (no later than February 28th). Performers should provide the name(s) of their piece(s), movement(s), composer(s), and how long each piece is so that a program can be prepared.

Donna Baldwin, House Concerts Chairperson.

Please consider participating in some way or other - whether as a listener or a performer. These programs provide performance opportunities for those who wish to play and provide opportunities for members to gather together as a group. I would like to have a brief club meeting that evening since we've not had one in a while. I believe meetings provide cohesion to a group and I think that the house concert venue might be the perfect time.

House Concert - Saturday, March 13 - 5:00 p.m. - Home of Elaine Brady

I'm looking forward to seeing many of you on the 13th.

Elaine Brady,

This is a reminder that there will be a WMC Concert on Saturday, January 23 at 7:00 pm at Westminster at Lake Ridge Retirement Center (12191 Clipper Drive, Woodbridge). They have a wonderful facility there, and we will be entertained by the Classical FX Vocal Quartet. I hope to see you there.

The Kiki Thomaidis application form will be coming very soon. Its postmark deadline is February 8. This year we have changed the instrumental division from winds to instrumental/voice. This provides opportunities for instrumental and voice students that weren't there before. I encourage instrumental and vocal teachers as well as piano teachers to enter students in this competition.

Thanks,
