Fairfax Symphony Orchestra

The
Fairfax Symphony Orchestra will be performing two concerts this season at the Hylton Performing Arts Center in Manassas, VA. I wanted to contact you about a special opportunity we would love to provide for members of the Woodbridge Music Club.

This season, our music director, Christopher Zimmerman, is offering to give a special presentation at no charge about his programming choices and the repertoire he has selected for these two concerts. We would like the opportunity to bring this presentation to your group, and to offer you a group rate to attend one or both of the concerts we will be presenting in Manassas. The performances are on Sunday afternoons at 3:00 p.m. – January 15th and March 18th.

I will be happy to provide you with more information and to speak with you in more detail about this opportunity. Please feel free to e-mail me or call the office at 703-563-1990.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
Tara

A Letter from the President

October 3, 2011

Dear Fellow WMC Members,

We have gotten off to a great start in the 2010-11 Season. Our first program on September 17 was wonderful. Unfortunately I was unable to attend, but from all accounts received concerning the program, the Tempest Trio was stunning. A separate email was sent out about our next program on October 22. The program is at Westminster at Lake Ridge Retirement Center so there is no need to bring any food for the reception. Westminster takes care of the receptions for programs at their center.

Healing Strings

Sentara Potomac Hospital has a music ministry program called, “Healing Strings.” Carol Wille, hospital chaplain, initiated the program last year. They are seeking musicians who are interested in sharing their time and talent-- musicians who are willing to make a commitment to playing their instrument (it does not need to be a stringed instrument) in the hospital setting. Options for playing are in the lobby, public waiting areas, on the nursing units for the patients, family members and staff or in the Worship Room where there is the capability to transmit over a closed circuit channel into patient rooms.

Please contact
Chaplain Wille at Sentara Potomac Hospital, 703-583-3003, if you have any questions, comments or are interested in pursuing this opportunity to share your musical gifts with our community.
Thank you.
